Frequently Asked Questions

Hair patch price depends on many factors. The quality of the hair patch is the main factor, artificial hair patches with artificial hair are cheaper and start from Rs 4000 while human hair patches are more expensive and start from Rs 8000. Various qualities are avaialble and you can choose which hair patch you would like to use.

Hair patches can last from 2 months to 12 to 18 months depending on the quality. The most natural looking ones have thinnest bases and last for 2-3 months, while sturdier ones have thicker bases and last for 12 to 18 months

Here is a breakdown of these hair patch types ordered from the most premium (highest realism/least durable) to the most durable (longest lasting/least realistic):

1. Swiss Lace (The “Invisible” Premium)

This is the gold standard for undetectability, featuring an ultra-fine, delicate mesh that completely disappears against the skin. Its primary advantage is that it offers the most natural hairline possible—you can comb your hair straight back, and no one will notice—but this comes at the cost of extreme fragility. It is breathable and lightweight but requires expert handling; if you pull too hard, it will tear. Durability: Very low (1–2 months). Best For: Actors, models, or grooms who need a flawless look for a specific event or short period and are willing to replace the system frequently.

2. Mirage / Ultra-Thin Skin (The “Scalp” Look)

The Mirage system uses a micro-thin, transparent polyurethane (skin) base where hair is often V-looped or injected rather than knotted, creating the illusion that hair is growing directly out of your scalp. Its biggest advantage is the visual texture; it looks exactly like skin, making it fantastic for lower-density styles, though it lacks the breathability of lace, meaning it traps heat and sweat. Because the base is as thin as cling film (0.03mm–0.06mm), it is very delicate and cannot be repaired if torn. Durability: Low (2–3 months). Best For: Users who prioritize a realistic “scalp” appearance over breathability and are okay with higher maintenance costs.

3. French Lace (The Global Standard)

French Lace is the most popular choice for balancing high realism with manageable strength; it uses a honeycomb-shaped mesh that is slightly thicker than Swiss lace but still largely undetectable. Its main advantage is that it is fully breathable—allowing water and air to reach the scalp—while being strong enough to withstand daily wear and regular cleaning better than Swiss lace. It offers a natural hairline with a softer feel than hybrids. Durability: Medium (3–4 months). Best For: Active individuals (gym-goers, runners) who sweat a lot and want a completely natural look without the extreme fragility of Swiss lace.

4. Q6 (The “Best of Both Worlds” Hybrid)

The Q6 is a hybrid design featuring a French Lace front for a natural hairline and a Polyurethane (PU) back and sides for strength. The advantage here is practicality: the lace front allows you to expose your hairline, while the sturdy PU sides make taping, gluing, and cleaning much easier and faster, as tape does not stick aggressively to the lace mesh in those areas. It is versatile and widely used because it minimizes the risk of tearing during self-maintenance. Durability: Medium-High (4–6 months). Best For: Daily wearers who want a natural front hairline but need a system that is easy to attach and remove at home.

5. Australian (The “Indian Market” Favorite)

“Australian” is a marketing term used primarily in India for a robust hybrid patch, similar to the Q6 but generally built with a focus on longevity and heat resistance for tropical climates. Its advantage is a slightly reinforced construction—often a mix of a durable lace front with a thicker poly perimeter—offering good hold and resistance to sweat degradation. It provides a respectable look but feels slightly denser and heavier than a pure French lace system. Durability: High (5–7 months). Best For: The average Indian user seeking a value-for-money option that survives the heat and humidity while still looking decent enough for office or social wear.

6. Monofilament / Mono (The “Tank”)

This is the most traditional and strongest base material, made of a stiff, fine nylon mesh that resembles a sieve. Its primary advantage is sheer durability; the material is rigid and can withstand rough handling, heavy density, and aggressive scrubbing without losing its shape or hair. However, the base is thick and detectable to the touch, and the hairline is stiff, so it does not look natural if exposed. Durability: Maximum (6–12 months or more). Best For: Budget-conscious users or older gentlemen who prefer a high-density, “puffy” hairstyle that covers the hairline and prioritizes lifespan over realism.

There are a number of options for women also.

Here are the most common types of hair pieces available for women, along with a short explanation for each.

1. Hair Toppers (Wiglets)

Toppers are designed specifically for women experiencing thinning hair or bald spots on the top of the head (the crown or part line). Unlike a full wig, a topper only covers the top section of the head and is designed to blend seamlessly with your existing biological hair. They are an excellent “in-between” solution for adding volume and concealment without covering your entire head.

2. Hair Extensions

Extensions are primarily used to add length and overall volume to healthy hair rather than to cover hair loss. They attach to your existing hair through various methods—such as clip-ins (temporary clips), tape-ins (semi-permanent adhesive), or sew-ins (weaves braided into the hair). They are ideal for changing your hairstyle or adding thickness to the lengths of your hair.

3. Clip-In Bangs (Fringes) – Front lace hair piece for women

These are smaller hair pieces consisting specifically of a forehead fringe. They clip onto the front hairline to instantly give you the look of bangs without the commitment of cutting your own hair. They are popular for styling changes or for concealing a high forehead and receding hairline.

4. Halo Extensions

A specific and popular type of extension that doesn’t use clips or glue. instead, the hair is attached to a clear, invisible wire that sits on the crown of your head like a “halo.” Your natural hair is pulled over the wire to hide it. This is considered one of the least damaging options because it puts no tension on the hair roots.

The main methods for attaching hair patches are:

1. Clips (The Daily Wear Method)

This method involves sewing small metal clips onto the inside border of the hair patch, which then snap onto your existing hair on the sides and back. It is the most convenient and non-invasive option because it requires no shaving, no chemicals, and allows you to remove the patch instantly before sleeping or showering. However, it is not suitable for swimming or high-impact sports as the hold is less secure, and prolonged use can sometimes cause traction (pulling) on your existing hair. It is best for  those who want to give their scalp a break at night, manage their hair patches by themselves without coming for monthly servicing, or use hair patches only occassionally.

2. Tape (The Cleanest Hold)

Taping uses double-sided medical-grade adhesive strips attached to the perimeter of the patch (usually on Poly or PU surfaces) to bond it to your shaved scalp. It is a popular method for self-maintenance because it is cleaner and easier to manage than liquid glue; cleanup involves a simple spray solvent, and the hold is strong enough for 1–2 weeks of wear. The hair patch user can apply it by themselves at home. While generally secure, tapes can sometimes add a tiny bit of thickness to the edge of the patch. It is best for and users who want a balance of strong hold and easy cleanup, and prefer to manage their hair patches by themselves without coming for monthly servicing.

3. Liquid Glue / Adhesive (The Invisible Bond)

This method involves applying a layer of liquid bonding agent directly to the shaved scalp or the patch base, creating a skin-tight seal. It has become the most popular application method at present because there is no self care needed and the hair patch stays on for 4 to 6 weeks without any problems. The hair patch does not have to be taken off at night or during bathing, and the wearer does not have to worry about it becoming loose.  It also offers the best hairline look as it merges flat with the scalp. It offers the strongest and longest-lasting hold (up to 3–4 weeks) and is essential for lace systems because the glue permeates the mesh, making the hairline completely disappear. Hair patch application by glue can be done only by trained technicians, though some customers learn to do it themselves. This method requires regular servicing every month as the glue starts to loosen and the customer’s own hair also grows longer.

Hair Weaving / Sew-In (The Older Fix)

This is an older method and not used rarely now. Common in some older salons, this technique involves braiding your existing natural hair into a track and then sewing the hair patch onto that braid using a thread. Hygiene is a significant issue; you cannot remove it daily to wash your scalp, which often leads to itching, bad odor, and potential fungal infections if not serviced frequently. Hair weaving is not done at Arogyam.
